About us

Rodbourne Cheney Baptist Church

Cheney Manor Rd, Swindon, England SN2 2PE, United Kingdom

Profile

Rodbourne Cheney Baptist Church is an evangelical church and is therefore open to the leading of the Holy Spirit including use of the gifts which God has given us. It is our intention to be people of both the Word and Spirit.

We aim to function as a body, recognizing that everyone has been given different abilities. It is therefore a priority to help people to find and develop these abilities and gifts. However, we also appreciate that some who come to us need time-out for refreshment and healing so we do not ask people to take an active role.

Around 60-70 people currently attend the morning service which is led by various musicians in our music group, who use both contemporary and traditional worship music. The worship time can include not only songs but times of intercession, prayer, use of the spiritual gifts and testimonies.

Children join in the first part of the service for worship and then leave for their own teaching part way through.

We have a number of events during the week when we seek to engage with the local community and are actively involved in local schools.

The area the church building is situated in is a mixed range of housing including both Council and privately owned houses together with a limited number of small shops in the vicinity of the church. A primary school and supermarkets are the main buildings opposite the church with some smaller shops and a library, which are situated around the corner in an area known as Rodbourne Cheney.

There are two other churches in the immediate area with whom we have good links, St Mary’s Church of England, (several hundred yards down the road), and St Andrews Methodist Church around the corner.

Robourne Cheney Baptist Church is part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and has links to a number of other Churches and organisations. Some of those links are listed below:
